  6. running INI ProFiler.

  10. INTRODUCTION
  11. ------------
  12. INI ProFiler is a powerful, easy-to-use utility for reviewing
  13. and editing the contents of the initialization, or ".INI",
  14. files used by Microsoft Windows and/or Windows applications.
  15.  
  16. INI ProFiler offers a safe, "hands-off" method of editing .INI
  17. files.  In this capacity, the program combines the best features
  18. of an editing utility and a reference tool in one!
  19.  
  20. INI ProFiler can load any ASCII-compatible .INI file used by
  21. Windows or Windows applications, and display groups of entries
  22. section by section.  Changes to a selected section, keyname or
  23. entry string/value may be easily "spliced" into the .INI file
  24. with the touch of a button.  Best of all, context-sensitive
  25. help is available for selected .INI files and sections.

  27. With INI ProFiler, your Windows system configuration can be
  28. optimized quickly, easily, and with complete safety.  And even
  29. if you don't make any changes, INI ProFiler and its help system
  30. can be a great way to familiarize yourself with the "inner
  31. workings" of Windows initialization files.

  35. PROGRAM FILES

  37. The INI ProFiler 1.0 package consists of 6 files:

  44.     VENDOR.TXT

  46. A sixth file, INIPRO.INI, will be automatically created and
  47. stored in the default Windows directory (e.g., C:\WINDOWS) the
  48. first time the program is run.

  52. READ ALL ABOUT IT
  53. -----------------
  54. Full product documentation is contained in the INIPRO.TXT file.
  55. This is an ASCII text file which can be easily loaded and
  56. viewed with Windows Notepad, Windows Write, or any word
  57. processor or text editor that supports the ASCII text format.
  58. This file includes a program description, instructions, and
  59. technical notes.

  61. Hypertext program documentation is supplied in the INIPRO.HLP
  62. file.  This is a Windows Help System format file, which can be
  63. loaded and viewed with Windows Help -- and is directly
  64. accessed from within INI ProFiler via the menu bar
  65. "Help/Contents..." command (and from the "Question Mark"
  66. quick command pushbutton located in the upper-right corner of
  67. the program window).

  69. Additional context-sensitive help is supplied in the INIHLP.HLP
  70. file, which is accessed from the context-sensitive help
  71. pushbutton controls in the program interface.

  73. These files contain all the information you need to install and
  74. run this program.  The Windows Help System includes the provision
  75. for easily printing any topic or topics from the INIPRO.HLP file.
  76. This handy feature can be used to turn your "manual on disk" into
  77. hard copy for future reference.

  81. QUICK & DIRTY START-UP
  82. ----------------------
  83. We recommend that you make a backup copy of the master program
  84. disk(s) before installing or running INI ProFiler.  We also
  85. recommend that this program be installed to, and run from, a
  86. hard disk.

  88. To get INI ProFiler loaded and running with a minimum of fuss,
  89. simply create a new directory or subdirectory on your hard disk
  90. (e.g., C:\INI or C:\INIPRO) and copy the entire contents of your
  91. master disk(s) to that new directory.

  93. From Microsoft Windows, you can run this program from File
  94. Manager by "double-clicking" the INIPRO.EXE file entry or by
  95. selecting the INIPRO.EXE file entry and issuing the menu bar
  96. "File/Run" command.

  98. Of course, the program's icon can be easily installed into a
  99. new or existing Program Manager group for quick, one-step
  100. running.

  102. A complete summary of all commands and program features is
  103. provided in the INIPRO.TXT file and within the INI ProFiler
  104. help system.

  110. Warranty information regarding this product is provided in the
  111. ASCII text file, INIPRO.TXT and in the Windows Help file
  112. INIPRO.HLP.

  116. PRODUCT REGISTRATION
  117. --------------------
  118. INI ProFiler (version 1.0) is shareware, not freeware.
  119.  
  120. The single-user registration fee for this product is $16.00
  121. (U.S.).  Registrations ordered from outside the continental
  122. United States or Canada should include an additional $2.00 for
  123. shipping and handling.

  125. Multiple-user site licenses are available for this product.
  126. Site license registrations are a cost-effective way of
  127. registering several end-users for a substantially lower
  128. per-copy cost than individual registrations.

  130. Complete registration information, including printable
  131. registration forms, is provided in the INIPRO.HLP file shipped
  132. with the shareware version of INI ProFiler.  The INIPRO.HLP
  133. file is accessed via the menu bar command "Help/Contents."
  134. Registration information is also provided in the ASCII text
  135. file, INIPRO.TXT.

  139. VENDOR/DISTRIBUTOR INFORMATION

  141. Shareware vendors and distributors are encouraged to distribute
  142. this program for both commercial or non-commercial use,
  143. depending on the application, so long as distribution is intact,
  144. unmodified, en masse, and as long as no fee is charged for such
  145. distribution (with the exception of nominal and customary
  146. distribution fees).  When possible, please distribute the
  147. original "ZIP" archive file.
